I was ranting the other day, that people should stick to the limit - well, here in NZ they have reduced the 'thereshold' over the speed limit - if you go 5 km over the limit, you may get a fine - if you are caught, that is. Already. I'm hearing people complain - 'it's not speeding that causes accidents, it is bad driving" ; tell me, isn't breaking the law by speeding by definition, bad driving???
Besides, there has been a correlation proven between speeding and accidents, as between youth and accidents. And guess what - youth speed.

Why is it that people think its OK to speed? Would they cheat at cards? How is the principle different? - except for the fact you are putting people's lives at risk, not just their money.
I will choose a tradesman or car-salesman from one of the people who has not whizzed past me, or appeared looming in my rear-view mirror, as I try to maintain a legal speed [and that in itself is hard enough to do, when the majority of road users have little or no regard for the speed limit.] And I know that people say 'everyone does it,' but that is not true, 'cos I don't!; and that the law is wrong or stupid - if the law needs changing, get it changed. Increase the limit by 10kph - but then make it a zero-tolerance limit, and throw the book at the new offenders! BUT - until it has been changed, it is still the law, and should be kept.
The law may be an ass - but it is the only form of transport.!
